World Television Day 2023: The journey started with black and white TV, today smart TV is being used in every house.

New Delhi: Every year today is celebrated all over the world as World Television Day (World Television Day 2023).

Talking about the beginning of World Television Day, it was announced on 21 November 1996 that this day would be named World Television. This declaration was made by the United Nations in 1996.

First use of the word television

Many scientists have played a role in the invention of television and its development. According to data available on the Internet, the word television was first used by a Russian scientist.

The name of this Russian scientist is said to be Konstantin Persky. Constantine Persky coined the term at the Paris Exhibition in 1900.

These were the early days of black and white television

In the early days of television there was a black and white system. The first color television set was introduced in the year 1950. The American broadcasting company CBS ran the first commercial television program. Till this time most people watched only black and white television.

In the context of India, experimental broadcast of TV started in Delhi in 1959. In India, it was the year 1965 when Television India was renamed and a daily 1-hour news bulletin was started along with Doordarshan.

Again came the era of colorful and smart TV

The 1980s are considered to be the time of introduction and development of color television in India. In the year 1982, the National Program for Color Broadcasting and Networking through satellite was started.

Talking about smart TV, the world’s first smart TV was introduced in the year 2008. This TV was introduced by LG Electronics. The first smart TV in India was introduced in the year 2011.

However, in today’s time many types of technologies have come with smart TV. Users are improving their viewing experience with smart TVs with different displays.
