The India Football Team will face their biggest challenge in the season when they lock horns against Qatar in the upcoming World Cup 2026 Qualifier. Ahead of the mega encounter, India head coach Igor Stimac has claimed that Qatar is in a different league and India on the other hand has nothing to lose from the game, rather have many things to gain should they win.
“We don’t have to talk much about Qatar, we know how good they are. There is nothing to lose for us but a lot to win,” said a bold Igor Stimac at the pre-match press conference at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar.
The Blue Tigers gaffer has claimed that his team is focused and ready to give their 100% in the match. Though he doesn’t have the best team available owing to crucial injuries to few key players, Stimac is keeping his hopes high.
“Tomorrow, we have to give our best for 90 minutes. Injuries don’t help and when you lose key players it is a big loss. It doesn’t work if a player plays well in ISL (clubs) it doesn’t work that way in the National team,” he added.
While Qatar are heavy weights in the upcoming clash, the India side are taking one game at a time and are therefore focussed on the match.
“After the Kuwait game I told the team not to waste energy in celebrations and euphoria and focus on the Qatar game. Qatar is way out of our league but then again this is football, the most beautiful game in the world,” concluded Stimac.
“My message will be to forget what happened 4 years ago. We are past from that. We have progressed well and is a better team now. If we feel after the game that we have given everything then we will be contented,” said Indian custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
