Chhath festival celebrated grandly in Nepal, President also offered Arghya

Kathmandu, 20 November (HS). Chhath, the great festival of Sun worship, was celebrated with great pomp in all the major cities including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Hetauda, ​​Chitwan along with the districts of Terai Madhesh of Nepal. Like other years, the tradition of the President arriving at Chhath Ghats and offering Arghya to the Sun continued. President Ramchandra Paudel reached Chhath Ghat built on the banks of Bagmati river behind Pashupatinath temple to offer Arghya. Top leaders of many other political parties have also been reaching Chhath Ghat.

Earlier this festival was celebrated in the districts adjoining India but in the last few years it is also celebrated in a grand manner in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara. There is a national holiday on Chhath festival. However, most of the schools and colleges remain closed from Dussehra to Chhath festival. But there is a holiday in government offices and banks from Diwali to Chhath. In Madhesh state and Lumbini state, two days separate holiday is given for Chhath.

Chhath Ghats are decorated in a grand manner in Nepal. Not only Madhesi and Tharu communities, people of hill and tribal communities also celebrate Chhath festival with devotion and devotion.

Chhath Ghat is made at about 13 major places in Kathmandu. Apart from this, Chhath Mahaparva is also celebrated with great pomp in Birgunj, Janakpur, Viratnagar, Bhairahawa, Nepalganj, Hetauda, ​​Chitwan. From construction of Chhath Ghat to decoration and other arrangements for the devotees, local government bodies make arrangements at every place.
